What does Juvenile Counseling for Alcohol Abuse and Alcohol Addiction in Maryland contain?
May 19, 2008
There are a growing number of children who are getting hooked to alcohol in Maryland, so much so that the government and the educational authorities are forced to set up alcohol counseling cells in all the schools and colleges throughout the state. These counseling centers provide direct help for children who are battling with these addictions, and provide help to the parents of the children too who do not otherwise know how to deal with these situations.
This kind of counseling is specially designed for children who are into alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse in Maryland and is targeted at the age groups of 10 to 18 years. There are several specific points that such a program would entail. The counseling can be an actual treatment program that could be conducted on a daily basis, much similar to the day treatment program for addiction treatment in Maryland.
Most of the alcohol treatment program in Maryland is about teaching the children about the hazards of alcoholism. Since they are of such a tender age, they are driven only by the false sense of pleasure that the drink creates, without actually knowing what kind of havoc the drink is playing with their bodies. They are also guided on the social repercussions of their habit which may influence them drastically, such as being arrested for DUI. Most children become very receptive to these programs when they know the possible consequences of their actions.
The counseling sessions can also be conducted in group therapies if possible. In small groups, the therapists would try to create common chapters of understanding for the children and also help to encourage them with allowing the students to narrate their individual experiences at recovery.
